Lampard strike seals victory as Chelsea defeat Manchester City 2-1

Lampard scored a winner goal in yesterday’s clash against Manchester City earned by Sturridge in the final minutes of the game. Meireles and Balotelli‘s were the goal scorers for Chelsea and Manchester City respectively. Its the first defeat for the Mancini side for the first time in this season.

It was a disastrous start for Chelsea. Just after 1 minute and 40 seconds Kun Agüero break into Chelsea defense and gives a defense splitting  through ball to the on-form striker Balotelli who was one-on-one with keeper Cech, gets round Cech and hits the ball from a narrow angle into an empty net. Ivanovic was deeply hurt after he failed to clear the pass from Agüero. AWE! What a miss by Agüero! Manchester City could have gone 2-0 up when he leaves Bosingwa and Cole behind him and takes a shot to the near post but goes wide in the 11 minute. Manchester City were looking bright this evening. Penalty appeal by the Manchester City players in the 14th minute when Silva was tumbled over Bosingwa’s outstretched legs inside the box which I think that he had no contact to Silva.

Chelsea came close to scoring a goal at the 25th minute, where Drogba tricked Zabaleta in the box and unleashed a shot to the near post of Joe Hart. GOAL! Chelsea 1 Manchester City 1. A great footwork by Sturridge to provide a superb cross in the middle to Meireles who volleyed it home. Chelsea were now growing in confidence. Its half-time at Stamford Bridge with Chelsea 1 Manchester City 1.

The second-half started with Chelsea attack when Sturridge’s half-volley just went above the goal from a free-kick. A worst defending from Manchester City. Chelsea fans goes wild when Mata tricks Yaya Toure and then nutmegs Kompany on the left flank to give himself a clear run. Kompany then tackles Mata from behind and referee gives him no yellow card! he is already in a booking this match. A RED CARD for Gael Clichy in the 58th minute! Clichy brings Ramires down in a late challenge from 25 yards to goal and he picked a second yellow card of the night. This is the opportunity we all have been waiting for!

Chelsea now have complete possession in the match. 15 minutes gone with neither much happening in the match. Lampard comes in for Meireles, the goal scorer in the 72nd minute. PENALTY TO CHELSEA! After a frustrating attack from Chelsea, they finally earned a penalty in the 82nd minute when Lescott raised his hand inside the box as he blocks Sturridge’s shot. Lampard steps in to take the penalty and guess what? He SCORES! He smashes the ball in the middle and Joe Hart diving to his left-hand side. What a night for Chelsea as they came from behind to beat Manchester City in the dying minutes. Now it was just a matter of time for Chelsea. They just now needed to defend well.

Drogba tries to take a shot from 40 yards when he beat two players from a back-heal and the shot went over the bar. Its full time at Stamford Bridge with Chelsea 2 Manchester 1. This was Manchester City’s first defeat of the season. Chelsea are now clearly back on title race as it now wide open. Manchester City faces another big test against Arsenal next Sunday at home.
