Tottenham 1 Chelsea 1

Chelsea‘s draw have made a dent in in the title challenge as they are now 11 behind the leaders. Tottenham and Chelsea shared a point in their last nights match at White Hart Lane. Adebayor and Sturridge scored for each team. Tottenham now are the highest placed London side in the Premier League at Christmas for the first time since 1995.

Tottenham started very aggressively when Bale picks up the ball towards the right side of the goal and smashes from the left-foot but Terry blokes the shot and goes for a corner. Spurs now have 80% of the possession so far. 8th minute- Tottenham’s first chance created a goal!! Mikel loses the ball half-way and Bale with his lightning speed rushes to the byline on the left and puts a outswinging low cross to the center and Adebayor gets the first touch and bamm! There’s the goal. What a start for Tottenham.

A sudden response from Chelsea in the 11th minute when Mata strikes from outside the box but Friedel saves it while Sturridge failed to score a goal from the rebound of the keeper. what a miss by Sturridge! A controversial goal by Chelsea in the 23rd minute!! A flick from Drogba to Ashley Cole who seemed to have controlled with his hand, runs towards the left flank and delivers a beautiful cross to Sturridge who did the finishing part. He scored from a short range. Chelsea are now level within the first-half with Tottenham 1 Chelsea 1.

Tottenham kept the ball with elegance and were dictating the game while a poor possession play from Chelsea. Tottenham had 65% possession and Chelsea with 35%. Meireles has a dig from 25 yards but it is too hot to handle for Friedel but catches the ball in the second attempt. Chelsea nearly should have been 2-1 up in the 29th minute. Bosingwa’s cross reaches Drogba who traps wonderfully and gets free from Walker and takes a shot with furious eyes, which hit the woodwork. So close for Chelsea! Ivanovic is forced to go off-field in the 34th minute and Ferreira comes in while Bosingwa moves to an unfamiliar centre-half position. Spurs began to re-discover some of their early flair, but Chelsea have seemed to have settled into the game as they did against Manchester City after a horrible 15 minutes. Ramires is booked in the 43rd minute for a late-timed takle on Bale close to touchline. Cech save superbly in the 45+1′ when Adebayor takes a shot from the fringe of the box. Another injury crisis for Chelsea as Mikel leaves the stadium limping while Romeu comes and replaces him in the 45+2 minute. Tottenham till now, share a point with Chelsea till the first-half. Its Tottenham 1 Chelsea 1.

Second-half starts with Van der Vaart comes out with an hamstring and Pavlyuchenko comes in his place. A glorious chance for Chelsea. Drogba provides a wonderful through ball for Ramires but he failed to take a score a goal one-on-one with the keeper as Friedel react quickly to block the shot. A close call in the 59th minute! Adebayor has the ball in the net but has been disallowed due to off-side. It didn’t looked like Adebayor was on the wrong side as he shouldered in Gallas header. By the way there was no protest from the home team and fans. Modric win a corner in the 69th minute when his shot went in the side-netting. Spurs take the corner. Sandro rising high above Bosingwa to head goalwards but puts it wide! A great opportunity missed by Spurs. Mata too scores a goal in the 76th minute but is chalked off-side by the assistant referee. Torres was ready to make an impact as he was substituted in place of Drogba at 78th minute. Torres made an immediate impact at 79th minute when he found Sturridge in the middle, who was in an offiside position but his header was way beyond the target. A superb reflex from Cech in the 86th minute as he superbly saves Sandro’ shot which gets deflected of Meireles. Gallas miss a close range when he received the ball from the resulting corner and blasts it to the top. What a wasted chance by him!! Another chance went begging for Chelsea in the 87th minute when Mata’ free-kick reaches the Brazilian midfielder, Ramires who was unmarked, steers the ball wide. So close from Meireles has he volleys from 30 yards but just goes wide of the goal post. The save of the day?? Bale finds Adebayor who strikes towards the goal and goes past Cech….BUT Terry came from behind to superbly make a goal-line save from his little deflection and is forced to settle it out for a corner. Its full time at White Hart Lane with Tottenham 1 Chelsea 1.
