Frank Lampard is set to be offered a new deal at Chelsea after owner Roman Abramovich performed a remarkable U-turn over the midfielder’s future.
The 34-year-old was told in no uncertain terms that he would be allowed to leave the Blues when his current contract expired at the end of the season.
But a backlash from Chelsea fans, coupled with Lampard’s phenomenal form, has forced Abramovich into a rethink, and the Daily Mail report the Russian has now instructed talks to begin with the midfielder’s camp over a new deal.
Sources at Stamford Bridge told the Mail talks were ‘positive’, and that a firm offer to Lampard would be forthcoming shortly.
The veteran England man is beleieved to have offers on the table from all over Europe, as well as David Beckham’s former club LA Galaxy.
